In July, NASJA restructured its organization to better adapt to the continually changing media world. The new NASJA no longer has regions and members join NASJA directly (instead of through a region) and vote for officers directly. It is run by a five-person Board of Directors consisting of a president, 2 VPs, a corporate liaison and immediate past president.

Ski journalist Iseult Devlin has been elected president. Dan Geisen is a vice president, and Bob Cox is also a vice president. Stowe’s Jeff Wise is the corporate liaison and Martin Griff is the immediate past president.

Goals include strengthening relationships with other industry organizations and driving awareness and participation of snow sports through communication.

“As the collective communication force within the ski industry, NASJA is in a unique position to organize its members in a way that can help us drive awareness and participation in snow sports,” Nick Castagnoli, Rossignol Group NA brand/communications manager commented.

Meetings are also being organized. On September 18-20, NASJA members are invited to join the ISKINY/PSAA Expo organized by Ski Areas of New York and Pennsylvania Ski Areas Association. At the Boston Ski Show, there are plans for a professional development meeting about the 2018 Olympics. A winter meeting in the East is also in the works.

Save the date for NASJA Annual Meeting at Squaw Valley April 11-15. NASJA and Ski Hall of Fame have agreed to hold the NASJA 2018 meeting during the Ski Hall of Fame’s meeting. Look for details in September.

With a newly designed website, frequent newsletters and increased member benefits for both press and corporate members, NASJA is on the road to growth!
